PUBLIC TRANSPORTATIONS ON SUNDAY

From Siltakatu you can take a bus straight to stadium. Transportations starts at 11.00 am, next 11.20, 11.40 and 12.00. After competitions non-stop transportations starts at 3 pm. and last one 4 pm.

 

By your own car, we have also Uuro’s parking place, where we have non-stop free of charge transportation to stadium. Parking places you will find from Uuro’s industrial estate.

 

If you come by your own car, please allow enough time for parking. Be on time, at least one hour before competition starts.

Jury of the competition has changed the competition program. Mixed relay is rescheduled for Friday 10th of Febaruary. On Saturday11th there will be sprints and on Sunday 12th pursuits.

Sprint and pursuit award ceremonies in the heart of Joensuu

Ilosaari island is located In the center of Joensuu. On Saturday 11.2. there will be Snowy Island -event. During the event there is award ceremony for Friday's sprints and Saturday's pursuits. Program starts at 19.00 and award ceremony at 19.30. Welcome!

The demand for Biathlon World Cup tickets is active (26.1.2012)

 

The advance booking for the Biathlon World Cup is enormous. For the competitions that will be held in Kontiolahti from 10th -12th February have already been sold more than 2,500 tickets. That's a half times more than at the competitions in 2010.

 

The demand for VIP tickets is also more active. Of these have already been sold over a hundred. Most tickets have been sold for the competitions on Friday and Saturday. On Friday will be held the sprint and on Saturday the pursuit. For much of the atmosphere will ensure the members of the Magdalena Neuner and Andreas Birnbacher fan clubs that are arriving in large numbers.

The entire biathlon top takes part (16.1.2012)

 

All the big names in the Biathlon World Cup go hunting for points. On the course and in shooting area in the biathlon stadium in Kontiolahti we will see Kaisa Mäkäräinen and her strong competitors from Norway Tora Berger and the Germans Magdalena Neuner and Andrea Henkel. Also Slovakian Anastasia Kuzmina and Daria Domracheva from Belarus, who trained in the autumn in Kontiolahti, are taking part. A special touch to the competitions certainly gives the Russian Olga Zaitseva.

 

Surprise winner of the sprint competition in Antholz Sweden's Fredrik Lindström, the Fourcade brothers Martin and Simon, Germany's Andreas Birnbacher, Evgeniy Garanichev from Russia and Norway's Ole Einar Bjoerndalen will be there as well.


A total of 251 athletes will start in Kontiolahti. The first teams are already arriving on the 7th February. The competitions will take place from 10th-12th February.

 

E.ON IBU World Cup Kontiolahti brings colour and life to the Joensuu region (16.1.2012)

 

Biathlon World cup in Kontiolahti is seen and heard throughout the Joensuu region in February. One of the most colourful events will be on Ilosaari island. Here you will find music, dance and colour brilliance in the shade of the snow-covered trees. You’ll see the winners of the World Cup, too. Sprint and pursuit prizes will be given there on the edge of the lagoon on Saturday evening. Audience can participate in all of that.

 

You can also see biathletes and spectators on the roads and streets. Tickets have been sold well in advance. Much more than a thousand tickets have already been reserved. Russian biathlon fans have bought most tickets. Norwegian and German fans have also been active buyers of tickets.

 

Kaisa Mäkäräinen’s (Kontiolahti Sport Club) World Championship and World Cup victory are likely to get her own province to come and join the joy of biathlon. North Karelia is also seen and heard in the media. TV-companies from Germany, Sweden, Russia and of course, YLE, the Finnish TV-company broadcast the World Cup. In addition about 40 journalists from different countries are coming to report.

YLE-Urheilu is host broadcaster (16.11.2011)

 

YLE-Urheilu is the host broadcaster of E.ON IBU World Cup Biathlon in Kontiolahti next February. Director of the event is Jukka Ahonen and he has 50 staff members. YLE broadcasts live footage totally 8 hours. There will be 20 TV cameras for international broadcasting.

 

ARD channel from Germany will also be in Kontiolahti. ARD will use YLE's international live footage, but it will also make own special program from the event. ARD will have 48 staff members in Kontiolahti. YLE's and ARD's TV crews were visiting Kontiolahti 15.-16.11.
