Kontiolahti Sport Club is a well-known sport club in Finland. Its skiers and biathletes have been succesful lately. The sport club has organised international and national championship competitions.

Internationally Kontiolahti has becomeknown for biathlon. Since 1990, five World Cups and two European Championships as well as two Junior World Championships have been organised at Kontiolahti Biathlon Stadium. The 1999 World Championships in Kontiolahti was televised with 40 million spectators watching the event.

Kontiolahti Sport Club has many good biathletes. During the season 2006/2007 our 24-year-old lady, Kaisa Mäkäräinen, had her breakthrough in international competitions.
